As the year 2021 winds down, nominations have been released in Japan for newly coined expressions and trendy slang words from various sources. Ben and Burke review some of the top nominations. While they recognize some of the words related to popular TV shows and social issues, they were seeing many of them for the first time, such as slang words related to Olympic skateboarding events, trendy songs and games for young people, and of course, the novel coronavirus.
